New International Fixtures
From the Wicket Times March 1998 Vol.1 No.1

Canadian overtures last fall led to fruitful negotiations culminating in accepted invitations from The Scottish Croquet Association and The Welsh Croquet Association. We are to send over a representative team of four players this summer to play in Test Matches against them, the first of a planned regular series. Next time Canada will be the host.

Canada will play against Wales on 9, 10 and 11 August, then against Scotland on 14, 15 and 16 August. Except for one day of USCA rules in Wales, all games will be played under the Laws of Association Croquet.

The visiting players will be the guests of the host country during the test matches. Travel expenses are borne by the selected players.

The following team was selected: Brain Cumming, Leo McBride, Louis Nel and Gordon Lunn with alternates Steve Dimond and Ken Shipley. Meanwhile David Lewis became our representative at the world class Sonoma-Cutrer tournament in California in May. The Wicket Times heartily congratulates the selected players and wishes them well --- they will be facing very tough opposition.
