REGULATIONS FOR HANDICAP SINGLES PLAY

Article Date : July 04, 1999

Beginning this season Croquet Canada will calculate handicap adjustments for games played with bisques, either in sanctioned tournaments or submitted on a Sanctioned Game Card. The following regulations will apply.

1. For Handicap Singles games played under USCA Rules we proceed in accordance with the USCA rule book. A handicap for each member is already in place.

2. For Handicap Singles games played under International Rules we proceed in accordance with The Laws of Association Croquet (red book).

For sanctioning, in tournament play or for entry on a Sanctioned Game Card,

International Rules Handicap Singles games are required to be full games (no time limit), with full bisques to the base 0 or differential bisques. The full game may be a 26 point game or a 14 point game.

(We recommend that you start with 14 point games and move to 26 point games when you feel ready for their longer duration). With a 14 point game, the number of bisques for each player must become adjusted to approximately half of the bisques for a 26 point game. See schedule 1 on page 60 in the rule book for the precise details.

At a later time we may allow time limited games, when we know enough about how to adjust bisque allocation. (Note that the requirement of full games are only for handicap play under International Rules and that this comes IN ADDITION TO THE REGULATIONS STATED ON YOUR SANCTIONED GAME CARDS. (This was not yet finalized when the cards had to be printed).
