Croquet Canada has embarked on a new election system. General directors are to be elected in a secret postal ballot (rather than by a show of hands or proxy votes at the Annual General Meeting). Thus all members, regardless of geographic location, will have an equal opportunity to vote. Regional directors (Eastern and western) are to be elected directly by the members in their region for terms of three years (previously they were appointed by the Board for one year terms). The new system is to be ratified at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting.
For the election this year, the following nominations were received:
Western Director: Chris Percival-Smith Eastern Director: Ken Shipley General Directors: Donald Bridges, Paul Emmett, Dolores Gallagher, Debbie Prentis
Since the nominations received are in one-to-one correspondence with the vacancies to be filled, the anticipated postal balloting will not be necessary this year.
